Breaking Free from Mental Imprisonment
Imagine being trapped inside your own body. For over 20 years, I've witnessed countless people walk free from physical incarceration—only to remain imprisoned in their own minds. The good news is that this publication is dedicated to unshackling the mind through the relentless hope of God's Word. Let's get to work!

The Truth in Spirit and Truth
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. John 4:24
"You can't handle the truth!"
I love this scene. One of the most intense courtroom scenes in film history unfolds in A Few Good Men as Tom Cruise's character, Lt. Daniel Kaffee, relentlessly presses Jack Nicholson's character, Colonel Nathan R. Jessup, for the truth. Under pressure, Jessup finally cracks, delivering the iconic line before incriminating himself with his version of the truth.
My point: In life, as in this movie, there is often more than one version of the truth.
Worldly Truth
If you were born into this world, you will eventually die.
God's Truth
If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you will never die!
Choosing Your Truth
So, you have a choice to make. Will you believe what your circumstances tell you—you may be sick in your body, struggling financially, or even sitting in a jail cell—or will you believe the Scriptures, which declare that you are healed, blessed, and free in Christ Jesus?
Only one truth can prevail. Again, there will always be more than one version of the truth. We just have to figure out which one we're going to believe.

Sickness, financial struggles, imprisonment
Scriptures
Healing, blessings, freedom in Christ
Worshipping in Spirit and Truth
In our scripture text for today, Jesus tells the Samaritan woman the truth—even though she had her own version. He told her that God is a Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit.
Right off the bat, He's telling her that if you're going to worship—pray to, honor, or believe in God—you have to get out of your feelings because God is a Spirit.
Let me make this plain for you—it doesn't matter what it looks like, and it really doesn't matter how you feel about it. YOUR truth is not THE TRUTH!
Jesus goes on to say that those who worship God must worship Him IN TRUTH. What kind of truth do you think He's talking about? I hope you can handle it—He's talking about GOD'S WORD.

Legacy Reentry Foundation NFP: Our Story
In every volume of Relentless Hope magazine, you will receive a new story of relentless hope. From this is the first issue, I will share my story—the story of Legacy Reentry Foundation NFP—so that we can get familiar with each other.
In 2015, my wife and I founded Legacy Reentry Foundation NFP as an official nonprofit organization to provide "second chance" resources and opportunities for people like you and me. However, we've been doing this kind of work for over 20 years. What kind of work? I call it GOING BACK TO GET ME.

GOING BACK TO GET ME
Understanding the Struggle
I know what it's like to struggle post-incarceration. I understand the battle that goes on in the mind when people constantly bring up your past and refuse to give you an opportunity because of something that happened years ago. And because I understand these challenges, I'm going back to get those who may be battling the same struggles I faced—both physically and mentally.
I found out the hard way that there's only one way to boldly stand up against these challenges while also going back to help others: You must have RELENTLESS HOPE in GOD'S WORD!

Post-incarceration struggles
Battling mental challenges and societal judgments

Going back to help others
Using personal experience to support those facing similar challenges

God's Hand-Crafted Purpose
Long story short, God hand-crafted me for this work. Similar to the Apostle Paul, who once caused unspeakable harm to his community, God spared me—despite my own ignorance—and equipped me to go back and reach others like me.
I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength to do his work. He considered me trustworthy and appointed me to serve him, even though I used to blaspheme the name of Christ. In my insolence, I persecuted his people. But God had mercy on me because I did it in ignorance and unbelief. Oh, how generous and gracious our Lord was! He filled me with the faith and love that come from Christ Jesus. - Timothy 1:12-14 NLT
Today, because of God's grace and mercy, we now own two buildings with a staff and volunteers we call family—doing God's work in the same city where I once caused tremendous harm.

God's Example for You
Why am I telling you all this? I want you to realize that I'm just an example of what God has done and will do—for those who are rejected and despised.
I want you to know that if God can use someone like me, then that should give you RELENTLESS HOPE that He can do the same for you—if not more.
My story is simply God's example for you.
This is a trustworthy saying, and everyone should accept it: "Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners"—and I am the worst of them all. But God had mercy on me so that Christ Jesus could use me as a prime example of his great patience with even the worst sinners. Then others will realize that they, too, can believe in him and receive eternal life. All honor and glory to God forever and ever! He is the eternal King, the unseen one who never dies; he alone is God. Amen. - 1 Timothy 1:15-17 NLT

Inspiring Hope
Receive Jesus Christ as Your Lord and Savior
Pray this prayer to receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior:
Father God, I ask You to forgive me for my sins. I confess with my mouth and believe in my heart that Jesus is Lord—that He died, was buried, and rose from the dead to save me from my sins.
Now, fill me with Your Holy Spirit, and I will give You all the praise and glory! Amen.
That prayer is based on God's Word in Romans 10:8-11 NLT ..
8 In fact, it says, "The message is very close at hand; it is on your lips and in your heart." And that message is the very message about faith that we preach: 9 If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved. 11 As the Scriptures tell us, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced."
